Yes. The price of a courtesy car is affected by factors such as the size and location of the car. Courtesy car rates typically start from €55 per day. Before renting a courtesy car, you should check with your insurance company to see what expenses it will cover. Your insurance company will cover the full cost of a courtesy car if your policy includes courtesy car cover (collision damage). You’ll receive a courtesy car covered by the other party’s insurance company once you submit a usage assessment to them. The assessment shows that you need a car for work or for your daily mobility.

The other party’s insurance company covers 94% of the courtesy car costs, and you’ll pay the remaining 6% yourself. The percentages are set out in the Motor Liability Insurance Act. The 6% share amounts to just a few euros per day, and is based on the assumption that your own car incurs no wear and tear during the courtesy car period.

If you drive a company car, file a damage report with your employer’s insurance company. If you are not at fault in the accident and your car is under a finance lease, the other party’s insurance company will cover 94% of the courtesy car rental costs. If the car is under a maintenance lease, the other party’s insurance company will cover 100% of the courtesy car costs.
